Passionate Excellence: A Hiker’s Journey

3 min read

It’s truly inspiring when beings discover survival means within their passions. Even more remarkable are those who go beyond just seizing the opportunity – like Umphafa Berg Tours. This black-youth founded and owned company exemplifies professionalism in every aspect of their operation. From the moment you book your tour to the triumphant summit.

Our journey began with the melodic strains of Sjava’s “Isibuko“ serenading us onto the N3. The entire experience felt like a novel I once read, each moment unfolding like a carefully crafted chapter. Even the mundane, like stopping for snacks at a highway garage, took on a sense of significance.

After four hours on the road, we finally checked in at Witsiehoek Mountain Resort where we spent the first night.

Trekking with Infotainment

What sets Umphafa Berg Tours apart is their commitment to not only providing a trekking experience but also infotainment. Throughout the trek, our guides – Lungelo & Veza, engaged us in captivating conversations, sharing their knowledge of the environment and its inhabitants. You’ll find yourself not only exploring nature but also connecting with it on a deeper level.

After a day of trekking, we were treated to the luxurious comfort of what I termed the Four Seasons Hotel. This name was not only inspired by the actual luxurious hotel, but had a lot to do with us experiencing all four seasons in 1 night. Sleeping in a tent 3000m above sea level can be uncomfortable. Luckily for us, Umphafa Berg Tours goes beyond the mountains to ensure comfort. Their thoughtfulness created the perfect setting to relax and rejuvenate.
