In the places we have been. The people we have loved. The things we have lost. In the cities we leave and the ones we somehow find our way back to. There are stories in politics and culture. In what we wear, what we eat, where we travel and how we make sense of the world around us.
WeLived is somewhere in all of that.
We are an independent South African digital publication writing about life as it happens – and sometimes about lives that exist only in our imagination. Not every story fits neatly into a box. A story about travel can really be about home. Politics can be deeply personal. And fiction can sometimes feel more honest than the truth.
Behind WeLived
WeLived was founded by Nomfundo Lovejoy Mlaba, a South African journalist, digital strategist and storyteller, as a home for journalism, lived experience and creative storytelling.
We believe in telling stories with curiosity, care and honesty. Where our work draws on external reporting, we credit our sources. Where commercial partnerships are involved, we disclose them.
